After a two year hiatus, the Ward 6 Brickies are back in-person! It's hard to believe this is the 16th Annual Ward 6 Brickie Awards. And before we get to celebrate, Councilmember Allen needs to hear from Ward 6 neighbors about who deserves a Brickie award. The criteria is broad among five categories. Leave a note below with your nomination (please include a way to contact you if we have more questions). We're looking for Ward 6 neighbors, organizations, groups, and businesses that go above and beyond to make Ward 6 a great place for us all to call home. The nomination window will close on Wednesday, November 30 at 5 pm.
Submit nominations for the best of the Ward 6 community in the nomination form below. Categories are:
- Neighbor Award
- Community Organization Award
- Business Award
- Civic Pride Award
- Public Service Award
Share with your Ward 6 neighbors and encourage them to submit nominations, then join us at the Hill Center on Wednesday, December 7 at 6pm for Ward 6's annual community get-together.

Great, personable local internet service provider.
Ward 6 resident who has gone out of his way to connect his SW neighbors with each other as well as involve Navy Yard neighbors. He brings great traffic to the Wharf restaurants and local businesses and runs a 25000 person fb group called Welcome2DC centered on making friends for adults new to the city. Several of his happy hours have been at Ward 6 businesses like Tap99, Boardwalk Bar, etc.
A New York transplant who’s been here over a decade and has just had a baby (now a year old) but maintains community building as a major facet of his life.
The owners are beloved in the greater DC community and fought hard to opened the first Trans and Nonbinary inclusive bar and café in beautiful Eastern Market. Striving for accessibility, AYA offers affordable prices at the loss of revenue and is trying to save funds to add important infrastructure improvements so everyone, no matter their ability, can come and enjoy themselves as they are.
