The DC Council voted to approve a deal that will bring the Washington Commanders back to the RFK campus and grant them the rights to redevelop a large section of the 180 acres that has sat empty for decades. Councilmember Allen voted in favor of the deal in the Council’s first of two votes.
Councilmember Allen pushed hard to make big changes to the RFK stadium deal. Here are ways today’s deal was improved:
✅ Cut 2,000 parking spots + added hundreds of millions in funding to expand Metro
✅ Locked in top-tier green building + river protections
✅ Accelerated affordable housing
✅ Prioritized Ward 6 small businesses
✅ Protected The Fields for public use
✅ Improved traffic + parking plans for neighbors
✅ Secured labor peace agreements for good jobs
✅ Added nearly $800M in new revenue for DC

The Council is scheduled to hold a final vote on this legislation on Sept. 17.
