Represent Ward 6 on the Pedestrian Advisory Committee
Are you interested in helping make Ward 6 and the District even more walkable? Councilmember Allen is looking for one person to represent Ward 6 on the Pedestrian Advisory Council (PAC), and he’s also looking to create a Ward 6 Pedestrian Advisory Committee. We will be accepting applications through Friday, July 28.
Please note all applicants must be Ward 6 residents.
The DC PAC meets on the fourth Monday of each month, from 6:30-8:30pm. There are 13 voting members—one nominated by each member of the DC Council—who advise the Mayor, the DC Council, and various District agencies about how to improve pedestrian safety and accessibility. You would be joined by non-voting representatives from the District Department of Transportation, the Metropolitan Police Department, the Office of Planning, the Department of Parks and Recreation, and D.C. Public Schools. You can read more about the PAC here, and see the agenda of the most recent meeting here.
Councilmember Allen would like to replicate the DC PAC for Ward 6, which would likely meet quarterly. The Ward 6 Pedestrian Advisory Committee will help identify barriers to walkability in our ward. These might be issues that Councilmember Allen or our great Ward 6 ANCs could address, or they may be issues that the Ward 6 representative can bring to the District-wide PAC. You can help us decide how the Ward 6 Committee will work!
If you are interested in joining the PAC or helping us to create a new Ward 6 Pedestrian Advisory Committee, or if you know someone who would be a great fit, please fill out the form below. We’ll follow up with a few questions to learn more about your background. Then we’ll choose one person to fill Ward 6’s slot on the PAC and invite others to join the Ward 6 Pedestrian Advisory Committee. If you have questions, please feel free to contact Chris Laskowski, [email protected].
