Councilmember Allen encourages the community to testify at a series of public hearings of the Committee on the Judiciary & Public Safety on the nomination of Peter Newsham to serve as the permanent Chief of Police.
The Committee will hear from public witnesses at the first two hearings in the community and from public witnesses and the nominee at the third hearing at the Council. Members of the public may attend any of the three hearings below:
Tuesday, March 7, at 7 p.m.: R.I.S.E. Demonstration Center - 2730 Martin Luther King Jr., Avenue, S.E.
Monday, March 20, at 7 p.m.: KIPP DC Shaw Campus - 421 P Street, N.W.
Friday, March 24, at 9:30 a.m.: Room 500, John A. Wilson Building – 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.

Witnesses appearing on their own behalf should limit their testimony to three minutes; witnesses representing organizations should limit their testimony to five minutes.
