Ahead of the Sept 28 hearing on school repairs at the Council, I requested every open work order the DC Department of General Services has for Ward 6 DCPS schools that is more than 30 days old.

I'm sharing the full list (472!) of items so Ward 6 neighbors can see what's happening at their school and others as I prepare to question DGS leadership later.

Assignment Description:
The front door that is connected to the electrical remote opening system is not functioning properly.  The door does not open when the button is pressed and sometimes gets stuck open when it is opened manually.  We have turn the switch off which has helped with the door getting stuck open, but we can no longer remotely open the door.  A staff member or security guard has to manually open the door whenever someone needs access to the school which only increase face to face contact and does not allow social distancing during the Covid-19 pandemic.  A technician is needed to fix this issue.  POC Jason Lawrence 301-706-3387

Also included:  RM 302 - There is a significant amount of water falling from the concrete portion of the ceiling in room 302. The section of the ceiling leaking is closest to the teacher's corner; the area by the kidney table, cabinet etc. is where the water is leaking. Work Orders 652081 and 660258 also pertain to roof leaks in other parts of the school. This room is a classroom that will be physically occupied by students and staff members. library - 1st floor library ceiling window glass is cracked in the corner and water is leaking in through the window into the library. Assistance needed. There is a crack in the first skylight on the roof of the library. Water pours into the library whenever we have inclement weather. The skylight is located over top of several computers, which have to be moved when there's inclement weather.

Assignment Description:
There is a significant leak coming from the roof as soon as you enter the Main Lobby at Brent ES.  Whenever we have rain the ceiling tiles get saturated with  water and are in danger of falling on students parents and staff.  A roofing solution is needed to stop this issue from occurring.
