Ward 6 Small Business Update 5-15-20

On Wednesday, the Mayor announced an Educational and Academic Retail Stores pilot program to grant waivers for curbside and front door pickup, and the application is now open: https://coronavirus.dc.gov/ears

Locally owned businesses eligible to apply fall into these categories:

  • Book Stores
  • Art Supply Stores
  • Music Shops
  • Toy Stores
  • Office Supply Stores

Businesses will be expected to share an operational plan exhibiting how they will be able to safely operate curbside and front door activity. And, in order to help guide further economic reopening decisions, EARS Pilot businesses will be asked to share data about sales, hours, adjustments to their business operations, and what did and what didn't work with this method of operation. Let's work together to figure out how we can get back to the open and vibrant community that we are!

Additional Micro-Grant Funding - Applications Open on May 20

In today's press conference, Mayor Bowser announced that another round of micro-grant funding will become available next week. The application will be open from May 20 – May 29. If you did not receive a grant in the first round, I encourage you to apply. Information related to this grant will be on the coronavirus.dc.gov website.

Thank you for being part of a safe and thoughtful reopening. Let's get through this together.
