After a two year hiatus, the Ward 6 Brickies are back in-person! It's hard to believe this is the 16th Annual Ward 6 Brickie Awards. And before we get to celebrate, Councilmember Allen needs to hear from Ward 6 neighbors about who deserves a Brickie award. The criteria is broad among five categories. Leave a note below with your nomination (please include a way to contact you if we have more questions). We're looking for Ward 6 neighbors, organizations, groups, and businesses that go above and beyond to make Ward 6 a great place for us all to call home. The nomination window will close on Wednesday, November 30 at 5 pm.
Submit nominations for the best of the Ward 6 community in the nomination form below. Categories are:
- Neighbor Award
- Community Organization Award
- Business Award
- Civic Pride Award
- Public Service Award
Share with your Ward 6 neighbors and encourage them to submit nominations, then join us at the Hill Center on Wednesday, December 7 at 6pm for Ward 6's annual community get-together.

Jerome is also the block historian and friend to all. His kindnesses extend to the many dogs in the neighborhood – giving our dog a chew toy to earn her reluctant trust.
Jerome goes above and beyond and I am so grateful to him for his help. I feel very fortunate to have him as a neighbor.
SAVE MOTT’S MARKET
Will reopen corner store.
Larry’s blog Capitol Hill Corner is a rich resource for Capitol Hill residents, and one of the few emails I look forward to reading. He covers every topic – from art to gardening, politics to neighborhood safety, retail and restaurant openings and closures to building zoning and rehabilitation. Larry has walked countless miles for the photos that accompany each article. This was especially helpful and hopeful during COVID. He’s a great neighbor and a wonderful writer. He deserves a Brickie!
Jerome’s family has lived in the same house since the 1950’s. Jerome takes immense pride in our neighborhood, from sweeping up leaves, moving all of the neighbors’ trash and recycling cans in and out, reporting suspicious activity and ensuring that FedEx, UPS, etc. are safely delivered. In his de facto role as neighborhood block captain, he often helps neighbors’ moving trucks, guests secure close, safe parking. He is truly a one-of-a-kind human being and we’re lucky to have him as our neighbor!!!
Lara is constantly looking out for her neighbors, both humans and pets. She is the one we ask to find out what’s going on in the neighborhood. She sends out information and tips to help us and keep us safe. We rely on her and we love her. I feel very lucky to be her neighbor and her friend.
