After a two year hiatus, the Ward 6 Brickies are back in-person! It's hard to believe this is the 16th Annual Ward 6 Brickie Awards. And before we get to celebrate, Councilmember Allen needs to hear from Ward 6 neighbors about who deserves a Brickie award. The criteria is broad among five categories. Leave a note below with your nomination (please include a way to contact you if we have more questions). We're looking for Ward 6 neighbors, organizations, groups, and businesses that go above and beyond to make Ward 6 a great place for us all to call home. The nomination window will close on Wednesday, November 30 at 5 pm.
Submit nominations for the best of the Ward 6 community in the nomination form below. Categories are:
- Neighbor Award
- Community Organization Award
- Business Award
- Civic Pride Award
- Public Service Award
Share with your Ward 6 neighbors and encourage them to submit nominations, then join us at the Hill Center on Wednesday, December 7 at 6pm for Ward 6's annual community get-together.

As the colder months set in, please be mindful of our more vulnerable neighbors. The h3 Dispatch Line ((833) 439-6757 or (833-h3-Works)) is open Monday-Saturday from 10am-6pm if you are concerned about someone or they are interested in going inside. You can also call Shelter Hotline at (202) 399-7093 or the Community Response Team at (202) 673-6495 during off-hours. For more information, read our full Homeless Outreach in Mount Vernon Fact Sheet.
I’ve known this couple for more than a decade and they have always been active community members. Whether it’s helping walk a sick neighbor’s dog, organize a community race, create digital art for an event, or pick up someone’s kids from school because the are running a few minutes late, Linsey and Lee always say yes.
