Their program keeps our teens engaged, focused, and inspired before school, after school, and on weekends. It is truly a lifesaver for families, specially working families and those at-risk, and a shining example of what arts education can do. Their dedication, talent, and love for our kids make Stuart-Hobson’s drama program one of the very best in the city.
Ms. Emily is a core part of our community’s social fabric, and I could not be more honored to nominate her business, City Sing and Play, for a Brickie Award. She is also a community leader with keen insight on what families really need. She saw the gap in SW for children’s classes and dove in. We are all so grateful for that.
Finally, she is truly incredible at what she does. She is a caring, patient, and silly teacher who draws in both children and adults into learning. I am in awe of her knowledge about music theory and her inexhaustible joy. She is an absolute gem in SW and foundational for bringing families with young children together.
For the past two years, my daughter and I have attended her Saturday classes. Thanks to Miss Emily, we found our village. I’m not aware of any other business in Ward 6 that has created this kind of community with such consistency, care, and impact.

Under his leadership, 400 Mass had its first social event in years, which took place in the summer of 2025 on the roof and was a resounding success. He is now in the process of leading the building’s holiday party, and I have been impressed by his dedication, as he frequently comes prepared to meetings with agendas ready to lead the meetings.
On a personal level, he has become like family to me and is always willing to lend me a hand, along with his wife. I feel lucky to have him in my life!
rates above expectations in the city. Principal Harris has worked tirelessly to ensure that her young scholars have the literacy and numeracy skills they need to reach their full potential.
